Research Management Abstract

The dependence on oil in the United States must be lowered for the safety of the environment; as well fossil fuels are coming to an end. Oil is used too much and the cost of it is at a very high amount, however the U.S. will continue to buy the oil because the country requires it in order to fuel the economy. We are the number one consumer of oil in the world by an extensive margin, and each barrel we buy is nowhere close to cheap today is roughly around fifty dollars a barrel. This costly addiction is starting to become a scary issue when talking about global warming, because we are using so much oil we are burning it and releasing tons and tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which is affecting the ozone and if we do not stop the usage of oil we could possibly looking at another Ice Age. As well using alternative energy sources can save lives for the military because they no longer require people to go out in the open in a war in order to supply fuel, or equipment to soldiers, as well it is very cost saving because we are not being taxed for the oil we buy from other countries. We rely on ourselves to supply the energy which is free. Oil is something that we need to find a solution to in order to save the planet from extinction. But there is a solution to just about everything, and alternative energy sources’ is that solution for oil dependency. In the congress recently there was a bill that hasn't been passed yet, however the Energy Bill 2009 is a start it is going to require 16% of electricity to come from renewable sources by 2019. By 2021 it will require 20%, this is one of the parts of the bill the other is limiting companies on the output of their carbon emission, and the hardest hit companies will be the coal burning ones. It is stated that if this bill is passed it may lower the prices of renewable sources, and make it look more attractive. Once a bill such as this is passed, it will set a standard of new bills to be passed in order to implement more and more alternative energy sources.

Food and Government

1. Why do people choose to eat products that are unhealthy for them?
  • I feel that people eat unhealthy foods because people are not looking at the healthiness of it, they are looking at the price of the food and how quickly does it take to be made, because everyone is in a hurry now days.
2. What roles/ responsibilities does the government have in framing your choices?
  • The government seems to have every role in framing over choices because they give us certain choices that all are made from their view, and we are to choose on of those choices.
3. Should they be responsible for managing all products we consume?
  • I believe that they are corrupting us, so they should be responsible for helping us to fix our minds.
4. Should they be responsible for managing all products we consume?
  • I believe we should be responsible because we can't rely on them, they have already changed what we are consuming from the past, to unhealthy.

The Turben and Barder

This is a prompt from the above picture from http://www.janvonholleben.com/?page_id=4

Barder the flying dog and his friend James are on an adventure to the moon. Whenever James puts on the turban, Barder recieves the ability to fly. Tonight was a very special night because the moon was full and made lots of light in the sky. And since Barder was a magical dog, when he flew he left behind magic dust. Barder flew higher, and higher, and James was about to see his city with all the houses and the people walking. Then he looked away, and stared at the moon, it was so beautiful. Then the next thing James realized was it was time for school.

Government

I think we need to worry about our own country not everyone else. We have starving kids, homeless, people that don’t get medical care or education. We need to change our nation before we can help others. We need to look hard into our own flaws in our system and by fixing what’s wrong with our nation can we fix others. If we don’t have a working system how can we impose our system into others? We need to learn from our mistakes and work on them, like the health care system, the immigration system, laws and regulations, and the standards of living for low income families. By working on this we can increase the nations GDP and in the end lift up a country as a whole not divided into pieces, we are the United States not the just State, we work united and fall united.
